JITOTM21: Subliminal Messaging

There's a long-standing urban myth about flash ads in movie theatres. Some people still think these notorious subliminal messages are being used to convince you to buy more popcorn and pop...

The fact is, they're not being used in your local theatre, and haven't been for a long time. The whole story goes back to one ambitious marketer of cinema snack food. This guy admitted to using - and wildly exagerrating the supposed effects of - subliminal flash ads, way back in the 1950s!

But whether subliminal advertising is being used or not... the question is, does it work? Jay's got at least part of the answer in this week's episode of JITOTM, Subliminal Messaging.
