JITOTM17: You Asked Us

We covered a lot of ground in the first sixteen episodes of JITOTM, and it's about time we devoted a little time to sifting through the (virtual) mailbag.

In response to our call for jamais vu experiences in JITOTM9, we got a real doozy: a listener whom we'll just call 'Scott' has an unusual ability to remember faces, yet he drew a complete blank when he suddenly found himself face to face with an old friend in an unusual situation. Was this really a genuine jamais vu, or was it something even weirder?

Then there's the question of whether consciousness is rich, or thin, as discussed in JITOTM14. Frequent listener Evydense wondered why it couldn't be both, and drew an interesting courtroom analogy to illustrate that idea. Jay's response highlights both what we know, and what we don't know yet, about the actual experience of consciousness... and opens the door to the realm of thought without words.

We're the listeners as you get your say in this week's episode of Jay Ingram's Theatre of the Mind, You Asked Us.
